Idle or item lifestyle?

I was watching a movie called "About a boy" and there is a scene with Hugh Grant when he is talking about his units of time he spends. And he said, "the thing about a item lifestyle" or maybe it was "idle life style" anyway....anyone know what that means? If not, I understand.
