Why is he yanking me around? where is his head at?

My friend and I are really close, and we recently established that I like him but he can't feel that way because I liked his brothers. Kinda broke my heart but boo hoo. He texted me today that he was gonna have a girl over. I thought "we're just friends, this is how it's goina to be and I just gotta get used to it," so I replied "have fun". He replied 'yeah well I was gonna invite you, but I know you wouldn't want to do anything with me.' Um wtf? He's a minor and I'm a little older, so I've told him I didn't want to mess around until he's eighteen, but why would he even say that if he just told me a week ago that he doesn't like me that way? Maybe he meant he couldn't get serious with me but is game for a call? normally he's really sweet and shows that he loves me a lot as a friend but why is he sending mixed signals?
