Did I waste time, effort and money by going back to school?

Ok I decided to return to school and earn a degree. I did and graduated with a 3.97 GPA and ma Summa Lauda, something like that. I have earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Now I know an earned degree is something that can never be taken away. However everywhere I have applied they want experience. So did I waste my time? Woudl going back yet again and earning more credits in psychology or sociology be adviseable? I know others are asking them selves the same questions. I am starting to realize that the saying that college grads earn more is a crock. I am just tired of working for below the National Poverty Guidelines as so many people in this country do.
