Which is the better game mario or pokemon?

which one is more popular? which one is better? I personally think mario is the better game but the enemies are re-tarts and my brother thinks pokemon is more popular but it has these horrible graphics. mario's been around for over two hundred years and still popular and pokemon I've known it for only like a decade and it's already getting old, at least I think it is. So far I've only seen nerds and dorks play pokemon, no offense to you other people, but seriously I hate pokemon, I mean the people look like lego people, I've only seen pokemon on the ds though.
