A good synthesizer to buy.?

Personally, I'd go for a Korg X5D. I bought a new one for about 300. You could get a used one for well under half that price. It has an amazing amount of options on it. If you're prepared to spend a bit of time on it you can literally do anything. You'll get a lot of people suggesting the MicroKorg - for the extra cash, getting an X5D is well worth it. The MicroKorg is very much limited in what it can do. It does its job in a very basic, roundabout way. If you have 200 to spend on a synth, you might as well get a proper one.
